Inclusive Policy? An Intersectional Analysis of Policy Influencing Women’s Reproductive Decision‐Making

Policy can be used and experienced as a tool for social inclusion or exclusion; it empower disenfranchise. Women’s reproductive decision‐making health is impacted by policy, women’s experiences of diverse intersecting marginalised locations influence their policy. This research aimed to explore how intersectionality considered within Victorian state government policies that impact decision-making. A systematic search (Australia) policy instruments was undertaken, identifying twenty instruments. Policies were analysed using an intersectional analysis framework two‐stage process involving deductive coding into the domains framework, followed inductive thematic across domains. Findings reveal inconsistencies in they consider relations power representation problems, positionings, impacts, solutions. These gaps could exclude marginalise individuals groups contribute systemic inequities decision-making outcomes those decisions, particularly among already groups. The lack voices further excludes marginalises limits all women development needs meaningfully involve with locations, critical reflexivity stakeholders, ensure better account of, impacts upon, who are effect change promote equity decision‐making.
